About Christopher Holmberg

Christopher Holmberg is a Ph.D. candidate in Food and Nutrition.

Mr. Holmberg has a clinical background as a Registered psychiatric-mental health nurse (PMHN), and has worked as a ward manager overseeing an acute psychiatric ward at Sahlgrenska University Hospital. He also has a BSc in Nursing and a BSc in Health Service Administration. Christopher has also been working as a Research Assistant at the Laboratory of Gastroenterology at Sahlgrenska University Hospital, investigating patients’ perceptions of living with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). 

Mr. Holmberg is also former research fellow at the National Center of Neurology and Psychiatry (NCNP) in Japan and a member of Japan Society for the promotion of Science (JSPS). Mr. Holmberg also serves as an Editorial Board Member for the Journal of Drug Abuse. 

Christopher undertook an MSc in Public Administration and he was nominated for an exchange semester at California State University. Mr Holmber has also conducted an internship and consultancy at the World Health Organization (WHO), the department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse, in Geneva.

Christopher’s Ph.D. project is in large funded by EpiLife - a center for epidemiologic studies on mental health and physical health interacting over the life course. The project belongs to working area 3: Overweight and obesity over the life course. Christopher’s dissertation has the preliminary title: Food and social media among adolescents: an explorative study from a health promotion perspective. The objective with the dissertation is to investigate dietary communication among adolescents in social media, and how social media can be used in a dietary health promotion intervention. A conceptual focus is on the adolescents' eHealth literacy. 

Mr. Holmberg also teaches in several courses. He is course leader and principal lecturer in a course covering disorders related to nutrition. Mr. Holmberg also serves as thesis advisor for undergraduate students in Nursing and Health Promotion.

Mr Holmberg is a member of the European Association for the Study of Obesity (EASO) and the International Society for Behavioral Nutrition and Physical Activity (ISBNPA).
